Nigerian man arrested for dealing drugs in Bendor

Crystal meth and rock worth an estimated street value of R110 000 was confiscated from a house in Bendor.

POLOKWANE – A 45-year-old Nigerian man will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (June 1) on charges of possession and dealing drugs following his arrest.

The man was arrested during a ‘disruptive operation’ by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit and the Crime Intelligence Unit in the early hours of this morning (May 30)

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said a white luxury sedan was spotted in Bendor and was followed to a closed gate waiting to be opened.

“Police swiftly accosted the driver and upon searching the vehicle, seven balls containing rock was found hidden and the search was escalated to the house where crystal meth was found hidden in the kitchen,” his statement read.

Ledwaba added that the total estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is R110 000.

Earlier this month, two other foreign nationals appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.

The duo were arrested by the Provincial Crime Intelligence Narcotics Team together with the Provincial Organised Crime Unit on May 8 at a house in Bendor.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded members for their vigilance and determination in ridding the province of drugs.
