Drugs such as nyaope, crystal meth and rock with an estimated street value of R1m and a suspected stolen grey hatchback worth R240 000 were confiscated.

POLOKWANE – A 29-year-old man will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon on several drug related charges and possession of a suspected stolen vehicle following the discovery of a drug laboratory in the city.

The man was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning (May 11) during a tactical operation by the Provincial Crime Intelligence Narcotics Team and the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit, for the illegal manufacturing and dealing in illicit drugs.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the teams intercepted the suspect while he was packaging drugs in his laboratory and that more drugs were found in a vehicle on the premises.

“Drugs such as nyaope, crystal meth and rock with an estimated street value of R1m and a suspected stolen grey hatchback worth R240 000 were confiscated,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the suspect will be charged with illegal manufacturing and dealing in illicit drugs as well as possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.

Earlier this week, two foreign nationals were also arrested after they were found in possession of 11 balls and 100g of nyaope with an estimated street value of R56 000.
