Local Hospitium gets boost from concert

All proceeds went towards the Theunis Fichardt Hospitium and a cheque of R60 000 was handed over on the night of the concert.

POLOKWANE – Concertgoers showed up in their numbers on Saturday to support a good a cause.

With Armand Hofmeyr, Liezel Pretorius and Barto Swiegers on the line-up, it was a night to remember.

Nancy Swanepoel, the organiser of the event explained that the show was a fundraiser for the Theunis Fichardt Hospitium. “There was a post on social media of a woman who had lost everything because she had to pay for cancer treatment.

“That was the day I decided that I want to do something for our hospice in Polokwane,” she said.

High school buddies Corrie Cornelius, Fanie Nel, Sarel Nel and Ekert Cornelius reunite at the concert.

All the proceeds went towards the hospitium and a cheque of R60 000 was handed over on the night of the concert.

Swanepoel urged the community to take care of each other.

“We are all human and cancer is a reality. We must support the people who are not medical aid members and for whom the hospice is the only alternative.”

The donut ladies, Daleen Greef, Rejean du Plessis and Magda de Beer.

She added that the artists were supportive and even promoted the event on their own websites.

“Bolivia Lodge was also very supportive, providing accommodation for the artists for free,” she said.
