Sassa beneficiaries take note of the payment dates for 2023/24

For those wondering why their grants do not reflect in their accounts on the last day of the month over weekends, Sassa Limpopo spokesperson, Norman Kutama says the delay is deliberately for the benefit of those who require help withdrawing their money.

POLOKWANE – The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has made available to the public, a pamphlet detailing payment dates for beneficiaries for the current financial year (2023/24).

These include grants of older persons, children and people living with disabilities, but not the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.

For those wondering why their grants do not reflect in their accounts on the last day of the month over weekends, Sassa Limpopo spokesperson, Norman Kutama says the delay is deliberately for the benefit of those who require help withdrawing their money.

“Their payments should reflect on the next Monday morning, starting with the elderly. We do this so that our consultants are available to assist without customers falling victim to criminals where they withdraw their money as our offices are closed on weekends.”

In situations where beneficiaries are compelled to make withdrawals without the help of consultants, Kutama has expresses appreciation on behalf of the agency for efforts made by community leaders such as councillors to assist beneficiaries with safe withdrawals.

“We have not received any grievances related to robberies or theft from our customers, because of the great efforts by these teams. We call on our communities to immediately report any suspected malice on grant payments to the nearest police station,” he adds.
