Arundo archers let arrows take flight at competition

The first Africa Genesis Archery competition saw local archers gather to show off their skills and prowess.

MOKOPANE – Archers from various schools in Mokopane who participate under the banner of Arundo, proudly let the arrows take flight in the first Africa Genesis Archery competition held at the Waterberg Academy in Vaalwater on Saturday, February 25.

In the 3D division, Niel van Heerden from Hoërskool Piet Potgieter (HPP) finished first in the high school boys division with a score of 278/300. He also finished first in the bull’s eye section with a score of 287/300 which secured him an overall first place.

JJ de Visser finished fourth in the bull’s eye section with a score of 273/300 and fifth in the 3D section with a score of 251/300.

Joné Conradie from HPP finished third in the bull’s eye division for high school girls with a score of 277/300.

Mieke Kruger, also from HPP, finished fourth in the 3D section with a score of 242/300.

Jayden Rheeder took first place in the 3D section for primary school boys with a score of 250/300.

He finished second in the bull’s eye section with a score of 266/300.

In the adult archery group, Andrea Botes won the ladies division in the bull’s eye section with a score of 283/300 and also finished first in the 3D section with a score of 253/300.

This secured her a first overall place.

Banie van Tonder finished second among the men in the bull’s eye division and fourth overall.

Eugene Redelinghuys finished fourth in the bull’s eye division, 264/300 and Jan van Heerden wins the 3D section with 227/300 points.
