Thembi Nkadimeng sworn in as mayor
Thembi Nkadimeng took up the mayor’s seat this year after Freddy Greaver resigned in August.
She was the managing director of her own consultancy business, specialising in the development and implementation of corporate social investment initiatives for various companies and government departments.
Nkadimeng was employed in both government and the private sector for 11 years before she started her own company.
Member of LYO drowns on trip
THE Limpopo Youth Orchestra (LYO) had to cut short a trip to Senegal in 2014 after one of the orchestra members drowned.
Daniel Modiba drowned in the swimming pool of the hotel where the orchestra was residing during a tour of Dakar, Senegal.
The orchestra was invited by the South African embassy in Dakar to perform at Senegal’s 20 years of democracy celebrations.
Simoné Aronje-Adetoye, managing director of the Limpopo Youth Orchestra, said they would miss Daniel very much.
She described him as as a humorous person who went out of his way to make those around him laugh.
