Reservoir levels are at their lowermost – Polokwane Municipality

It is anticipated that water flow to the city will improve as the Olifantspoort Plant is currently pumping to Polokwane following a leaking valve.

POLOKWANE – Areas receiving water supply are urged to use it sparingly as the city’s water woes continue.

The Polokwane Municipality says levels at most reservoirs within the municipal area are at their lowermost.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said this is as a result of a supply stoppage to Polokwane by Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) at the Olifantspoort Scheme.

Selala said they were informed of a leaking valve at the pump station on Wednesday (November 23) which resulted in shortages.

“According to the latest information, the plant is currently running and pumping water to Polokwane. It is anticipated that flow will improve once supply reaches the city,” a statement read.

Currently, 30Ml Dome and 30Ml Flat are at 0% while Seshego is at 5%.

“The municipality will continue to monitor the situation and provide temporary relief and update,” he said.
