Ladies dominate the greens at the Ladies Classic Golf Tournament

A total of 36 professional golfers participated on Friday, while 108 keen professional and non-golfers took on the challenge on Saturday.

MOKOPANE – This year’s Ladies Classic Golf Tournament presented quite a few interesting challenges.

For starters, this was the eighth tournament since it was started in 2014.

“The tournament’s theme took the golfers back to the beginning of golf,” says Karien Grové, women’s golf captain for the past four years.

The format for the professional golfers was a betterball alternative on Friday and a betterball scramble drive on Saturday, while the non-professionals could participate on Saturday in a foursomes format.

A total of 36 professional golfers participated on Friday, while 108 keen professional and non-golfers took on the challenge on Saturday.

Professional golfers Janize van Staden and Charisse Kemp won the tournament with 99 points, while team captain Karien Grové and Marika Naudé followed close behind with 96 points.

Elzette Badenhorst and Angelique Smith finished third.

In the non-professional golfers category, Annerie Coetzee and Adeleen Holiday walked away with the first prize, while Urma Prinsloo and Adri Kemp followed in second place.

Linda Smit and Jenny Greyling claimed third place for themselves.
