Young golfers eager to fly the Limpopo flag high at nationals

The chairperson of Limpopo High Schools Golf, Hendrick Malan said the stage is set at the Polokwane Golf Club for the South African Schools Inter Provincial Golf Tournament.

POLOKWANE – Young top golfer, Arno Lombard will represent Limpopo at the South African Schools Inter Provincial Golf Tournament set for Polokwane Golf Club from October 3-5.

The Gr 12 Hoërskool Pietersburg learner won the Limpopo High Schools Championship in August and will compete for the top spot against 18 of the best golfers in the country. “I am aiming to finish the event in the top 10. I have prepared well for the event and I just want to use every opportunity.”

Hendrick Malan, chairperson of Limpopo High Schools Golf said systems are ready to welcome the players at the Polokwane Golf Club. “The Limpopo schools team will be represented by eight players and they are ready to compete.”

He also congratulated Amicus de Beer, Gr 11 PHS learner for winning his games 9&7 against Mpumalanga and 5&4 against Southern Cape at Koro Creek Bushveld Golf Estate.

The 16-year-old also impressed by winning both his singles against Boland and KwaZulu-Natal.

Malan said they are proud of Amicus’ achievements and wished him well at the South African Schools Inter Provincial Golf Tournament.

“He has a great future ahead of him, he must just keep his head down and continue to work hard.”
