Kasi hackathon unearths programming talent in Seshego

Twelve teams participated in preparation for the youth to take full advantage of the digital hub that's coming soon to the Seshego Industrial Park.

POLOKWANE – Seshego Digital Hub’s Kasi Tech Hackathon unveiled local programmers’ talent on June 24-25.

The hackathon that was hosted by Limpopo Connexion, an entity of the Limpopo Economic Development Agency (Leda), was a social coding event to bring computer programmers and other interested people together to develop new software systems that can resolve real-world problems.

Twelve teams took part in the competition in preparation for the youth to take full advantage of the digital hub that’s coming soon to the Seshego Industrial Park.

A digital hub is a centre established for the purpose to promote digital transformation and the centre offers various training programmes, high bandwidth and cutting-edge technical facilities and services, as well as meeting rooms and event and training spaces.

The Seshego Digital Hub is set for completion next year and it will boast facilities such as video conferencing, computer laboratories, broadband connectivity and cloud storage.

The hub will create and sustain jobs in the digital industry, serve as access points to resources and digital technology within the community, as well as expose the youth to opportunities within their immediate economy.

The facility provides the youth with the opportunity to incorporate digital networks to identify employment and generate income opportunities within their communities, introduce new innovative technologies, provide training, incubation and office facilities.
