POLOKWANE – Streaming services such as Showmax and Netflix have made it possible to watch your favourite series or movies on demand, whenever you want to.

This however makes it even more difficult to decide between the magnitude of options available – that’s where we come in.

What to Watch this week on:

Showmax:

Series: My Brilliant Friend

Season 3 brings us eight beautifully shot and exquisitely told new episodes, picking up with Lila (Gaia Girace) raising her young son alone and working in a factory under the toughest of conditions, while Elena (Margherita Mazzucco) has authored a successful novel.

Movie: Uprising

The three-part miniseries tells the extraordinary story of three intertwined events from 1981: the New Cross Fire, which killed 13 young Black people; the Black People’s Day of Action; and the Brixton riots – turning points which would go on to define race relations in the UK for a generation.

For the kids: Duma

Filmed in South Africa and Botswana, the classic story of a young South African boy’s friendship with an orphaned cheetah is ranked among the top family movies of all time.

Series: Peaky Blinders

A notorious gang in 1919 Birmingham, England, is led by the fierce Tommy Shelby, a crime boss set on moving up in the world no matter the cost.

Movie: Hustle 

When a down-on-his-luck basketball scout finds a potential superstar in Spain, he sets out to prove they both have what it takes to make it in the NBA.

For the kids: Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness

A brave young animal explorer teams up with two trusty friends to find a powerful artifact before his greedy uncle can get his paws on it.
