WATCH: Health Dept receives 25 new ambulances
“These life saving vehicles will assist in our continuous efforts of trying to reduce our response time to patients who are in dire need of this service during emergencies," Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba said.
POLOKWANE – The MEC for Health Dr Phophi Ramathuba officiated the handover of 25 ambulances to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) officials at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital today (April 11).
Ramathuba handed over the ambulances as part of a proclamation she made during her budget speech and said the ambulances are there to alleviate the challenges that currently exist in the department.
She said more vehicles, which will be patient transport vehicles, will be added to the fleet by July 10 and urged officials and residents to respect ambulances and report any foul play.
“These life saving vehicles will assist in our continuous efforts of trying to reduce our response time to patients who are in dire need of this service during emergencies,” Ramathuba said.
The Limpopo EMS operational manager, David Dennison said the new vehicles are Toyota Quantams, which have proven to work better in the province’s rural terrain.
