VIDEO: Northern Academy optimistic despite losses at sport tour

The school spent a week in Gauteng where they played friendly games with schools in the area as part of a rugby camp.

POLOKWANE – The head of sport at Northern Academy Secondary School, Oliver Moorcroft says the lessons learnt by the school’s rugby teams during their recent sport tour will help them at upcoming events.

The school spent a week in Gauteng where they played friendly games with schools in the area as part of a rugby camp. The u/14 team left the camp without a win after losing to Birchleigh, Bergsig, and Curro Heuwelkruin High Schools.

It was only their u/15 and u/16 rugby teams who tasted victory against Curro Heuwelkruin and Curro Nelspruit, respectively.

Moocroft said they would have loved to win all their matches but the teams are fairly new.

“Some of the boys are learning the game of rugby. Most have never played rugby before and it was their first time but we are happy with their effort. They showed enormous passion on the field. We played with schools which are two leagues ahead of us and we were able to test our strengths against them. These are some of the lessons we need as a team and I think going forward we will get better.”
