VIDEO: Helen’s yummy meals will make your tummy happy

Helen Ferns is the founder of Yummy in my Tummy and sells her signature wraps, fries and chip-sticks at local markets in Polokwane.

POLOKWANE – Helen Ferns said she founded Yummy in my Tummy because food is a primary need. The single stay-at-home mom, said she is inspired by her daughter Zuleika to work harder.

Helen spoke to the Polokwane Observer at the Polokwane Bowling Flea Market on Saturday (March 26) and said she started her business two months ago.

“I make fresh wraps, fries and chip-sticks in various flavours. My meals are made right in front of the customer,” she said.

“We can resist from buying new clothes, but it will be hard to resist hunger. Through my research, I found that a food business is one of the most profitable as compared to other sectors such as retail and fashion,” Helen said.

Helen also owns a owns a wood business and makes furniture and objects out of wood to sell to potential customers in the community.

She told Observer that she loves being part of the flea markets hosted in Polokwane as they give vendors an opportunity to showcase their products.

“These markets give us exposure to people who had no idea that we exist, which is good for business,” she said.
