Road Runners athletes excel at Om die Dam half marathon
The half marathon took place at Hartbeespoortdam in North West where Martinique finished the 21km race in a time of 01:35:32 earning her the first position among the women and placed 19th overall.
POLOKWANE – Pieterburg Road Runners Club’s seasoned athletes Stella Jonker, Martinique Potgieter and Colinda Potgieter performed exceptionally well at the Om die Dam Half Marathon on March 19.
The half marathon took place at Hartbeespoortdam in North West where Martinique finished the 21km race in a time of 01:35:32 earning her the first position among the women and placed 19th overall.
Stella and Colinda did the club proud after they finished in a time of 02:04:00 and 02:10:00 respectively. Colinda says they are proud of the other athletes from the club who also did well in the race.
“The weather was kind and the route was flat, which allowed runners to run freely and enjoy their race.”
She also added that entries for the Comrades Marathon are open and all athletes who want to participate in the event can visit their club for assistance.
“We can take 150 athletes to the event so we appeal to our athletes to enter in their numbers. Entries opened on March 23 with the entry cap of 15 000. The second entry window period will open on April 20 and close at midnight on May 16 or once the entry cap of 15 000 has been reached, whichever comes first.”
