Top sport personalities to be crowned this Saturday

LIMPOPO – Sport, Arts and Culture MEC Thandi Moraka vowed the event will be one to remember as it will be bigger and better in all aspects.

“As the years go by, the awards get bigger and better, and this year we have introduced new categories as promised. We want to provide opportunities for people to win awards, as much as possible.”

The prize money for each category is still to be announced, however, Moraka confirmed the highest prize money is R50 000.

Athletes from the sports confederations have been announced in 25 different categories. These categories include the sportsman and sportswoman of the year, newcomer of the year, coach of the year, school team of the year, administrator of the year, volunteer of the year, journalist of the year and photographer of the year.

There is also an award for the disabled sportsman and sportswoman of the year. Winners in each category will automatically qualify for nominations in the national sports awards.
