PEPPS acknowledges best Gr12 academic achievers

Gr 12 learners of PEPPS were awarded for their hard work during a prize giving ceremony on October 26.

POLOKWANE – “We are very proud of each learner for their hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the year,” said the school’s communications and marketing officer, Millisa Naidoo.

Some of the best performing learners included Dzhanga Ratshikhopa, who was awarded for the best overall achievement in engineering graphics and design for which she received the EGD trophy. She also received the Kapp trophy for best performance in mathematics literacy.

Daniela Caldeira Dos Santos was awarded the Library Shield for reading 10 books this year and received the academic shield for achieving overall average of at least 75%. She further received the Smith Family trophy for life sciences, Zinth-Wood trophy for English and Naidoo trophy for best Gr 12 research project in geography. She got the headmistress trophy for top academic performance in Gr 12 and received academic honours recognising achievement of academic colours for the second time. She also received merit honours for achieving five merit scrolls, consistent dedication to excellence in life orientation and she received the merit scroll for positive behaviour and achievements as well as the Trust trophy for prefect with most outstanding leadership ability.

Christine Mbite was recognised for receiving provincial colours for swimming and her outstanding achievement in being an ambassador for PEPPS swimming at the Olympics trials. She further received the Watson swimming trophy for dedication and achievement in swimming.

Zviko Madzorera was awarded the EGD Pat trophy for best engineering graphics and design PAT project in Gr 12. He was recognised for his dedication to excellence in mathematics, as well as his commitment to hard work and improvement in physical science.

Phathu Singo received the merit scroll for positive behaviour and achievements. He was recognised for taking part in the second round of the South African Mathematics Olympiad. He got the academic honours for receiving academic colours for the second time. He got Merit honours for achieving five merit scrolls. He was awarded the Stone trophy for best overall achievement in accounting, and he was awarded the best overall achievement in Afrikaans. He also got the academic shield for achieving overall average of at least 75% and received the Dayah trophy for best performance in physical science and the Prism trophy for best overall achievement in mathematics. He was recognised for excellent written insight and commitment to English, being an exemplary leader in college football and consistent endeavors to achieve high marks in life sciences.

Oscar Motsepe was awarded for being an exemplary leader in college football, as well as in College hockey and having provincial colours in hockey. He got the merit scroll for positive behaviour and achievements as well as academic shield for achieving an overall average of at least 75%. He was awarded the Afonso trophy for boys hockey player of the year, Willets trophy for best all round performance in Gr 12 and best overall achievement in Sepedi. He received academic honours in recognition of achieving academic colours for a second time and the merit honours for achieving five merit scrolls. He was recognised for excellent application of skills in English, dedication to achieving success in information technology and motivation to strive for excellence in life orientation.
