Miss Mamelodi Sundowns wants to fuel positive change in the world

Miss Mamelodi Sundowns Limpopo, Mukhethwa Mulaudzi says her biggest motivation comes from the desire to make an impact, and every step she takes is to improve herself and the service she is able to give another person

MLIMPOPO – Miss Mamelodi Sundowns Limpopo, Mukhethwa Mulaudzi, said her father always told her not to play too rough and get scars, as she will be Miss SA one day.

The 23-year-old model from Thohoyandou Block J said she had always been told she should become a model because she is tall and slim, but never developed an interest for the catwalk.

In 2017 she entered in the Miss Jozi pageant and made it as a finalist. She fell in love with modelling after her first on-stage experience. She decided to become a professional model and signed a contract as a commercial model with an agency in Gauteng and she still continues to compete in pageants.

“Growing up I imagined myself as an engineer, so I did not have any role models in the modelling industry. Currently I look up to all the women who challenge the industry by breaking stereotypes and norms, women who use their voices to fuel positive change, not only in the modelling industry but in the world at large. While modelling comes with its perks, such as finding yourself as part of a sisterhood in pageantry, it also comes with downsides like having to deal with rejection. Modelling taught me the tough lesson that you may not always receive the results you hope for in everything you attempt. When you attend casting calls, you might sometimes just not be what they are looking for and that is completely okay, so I’ve gracefully applied the lesson,” said Mulaudzi.

She said her biggest motivation comes from the desire to make an impact, and every step she takes is to improve herself and the service she is able to give another person. “I am very grateful to have the most encouraging and supportive family. My parents support my dreams like they are their own and they push me beyond what I thought I could do and be. My extended family also shows up for me every chance they get. When is I need votes they take up the challenge and make sure to find me a spot in the next stage,” she said.

She told CV that being Miss Mamelodi Sundowns Limpopo princess means she is the brand ambassador for the club and to some extent, its associates. She is currently studying towards a degree of econometrics with University of Pretoria majoring in economics and mathematical statistics. “It also means that I work with Miss Mamelodi Sundowns to empower women to take their positions and shape the world they would like to live in. Finding a good balance between modelling and studies can be difficult, but it has proven that time management is key to develop oneself. I always remember that studies are my top priority, so I need to create time for everything else I do,” she concluded.
