New prospective lessees for Polokwane Golf Club

The Polokwane Council has approved a renewable contract for the Polokwane Golf Club lease to a successful bidder for a period of four years and 11 months.

POLOKWANE – A request for the approval to lease out the facility was tabled on Friday during the last council meeting of the current council’s term.

The facility was previously leased out to the Polokwane Golf Club for a period of 30 years, but the lease will soon expire.

Council will thus have to approve a new lease, obtained following a competitive bidding process.

The facility with its clubhouse and bar comprises an entertainment area, swimming pool, children’s play area, ablution facilities, two halls, The Pro Shop, halfway house with cart parking for 20 golf carts, eight staff rooms with ablution facilities, men’s and women’s locker rooms with ablution facilities, an 18-hole golf course with practice facilities, a driving range with three practice putting greens, kiosk and ablution facilities, workshops with four staff rooms with ablution facilities, and caddy facilities with ablution facilities.

Prospective lessees will pay a rental amount of R21 000 per month, as per evaluation recommended by a professional evaluator.

The leasing of the club shall not prohibit the community and other institutions from utilising the grounds, subject to lessor and lessee joint approval. Council has approved the lease agreement with a rental increase subject to the consumer price index excluding mortgage costs (CPIX).

Alteration and improvements at the property would be for the lessee’s account, subject to written approval by Polokwane Municipality.
