Dr Masopa urges people to understand their roots, respect tradition

POLOKWANE – “It is not always easy to multitask all my jobs, but with passion and proper planning I manage to attend to all my jobs at the right time and with the right attention,” Masopa said.

He explained that traditional healing is often misunderstood. “Traditional African healing has been in existence for many centuries yet many people still seem not to understand how it relates to God and religion or spirituality. Some people seem to believe that traditional healers worship the ancestors and not God, which is not true,” he added.

The World Health Organisation defines traditional medicine as “the sum total of knowledge, skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures that are used to maintain health as well as to prevent, diagnose, improve or treat physical and mental illnesses”.

Masopa has a NQF level six diploma in human resource management and business management. He has a strong passion for music and delivers African traditional sounds and Gospel elements.

He started his music career a few years ago and has already released two albums.

Married to Frengy and blessed with two children, Masopa helps hundreds of people daily and is passionate about helping the poor and vulnerable people in society. “My short-term plan is to dominate in the music industry in order for my songs’ messages to reach millions of people. I believe the world can be a better place if people understood their roots and respect tradition. Through my music I hope to inspire and help the masses with knowledge of culture and tradition,” he said.
