Polokwane CBD shooting: Accused sent for mental observation

Kibi Josias Leboho (34) faces charges of murder, as well as the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

POLOKWANE – Kibi Josias Leboho (34) appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court yesterday (September 15) to apply for bail.

Leboho faces charges of murder, as well as the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, following a shooting incident in the Polokwane CBD on May 6.

Tshepo Rakoma (32) was killed in the incident and Leboho was later apprehended after he threatened to jump from the building’s roof, where the shooting took place.

According to Director of Public Prosecutions regional spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, magistrate Janine Ungerer could not make a conclusive judgement based on the psychological reports of the accused and the state.

“Therefore, the matter was postponed to October 20 for mental observation at a government institution. The accused remains in custody,” she added.
