Zuleika shines her lights

POLOKWANE – Zuleika shared that she had the idea to make lights out of wood when she thought of ways to make money for herself. She decided to choose something she could do herself and at her own time.

“I started to make lights. I recall the first item I made was one of my big lights, which took long to get the correct sizes to cut the light. But after that first one, it became easier and quicker,” she explained.

Daan Theron, who has a wood business, taught Zuleika how to make wood decorations and her mother assists her with the advertising and sales of the lights. Zuleika likes to design and she wants to become an interior designer.

“I love to design houses and bedrooms, choosing the colours and making everything fit perfectly together,” she said.

Next year, she hopes to turn her passion for interior design into reality as she plans to study interior design at Inscape in Pretoria. She added that her craftsmanship ties in perfectly with her career choice because she can use her own lights in the houses she designs. I hope to build a big business out of these lights,” she added.
