Perfect score for Bronkhorst in Groblersdal Open

Polokwane golfer, Jannie Bronkhorst defeated 72 golfers across Limpopo and neighbouring provinces to win the 2021 Groblersdal Open Golf Tournament last Saturday.

Bronkhorst took a two-shot lead over TJ Bekker from Kameeldoring with Ruan Roets from Centurion and Thinus Labuschagne following close behind.

The Groblersdal Golf Club was set up in true championship style with tough pin positions on fast greens. Local Altus van Wyk came in with a 77 to post 10 over par in the clubhouse. Then finally the final group came in; TJ Bekker 78 for six over par and Ruan Roets 75 for a six over par.

But Jannie was in a league of his own with a 74 to post level par 144 and a six-shot victory.

The 41-year-old said he was happy to win the provincial tournament and he is looking forward to achieving the same feat in other future golf events. “I will be participating in the Koro Creek Golf Event and another championship in East London later this year and I am looking forward to both events.”
