R81 mountain pass closed for construction

Mike Maringa, Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport and Community Safety says the planned construction started on Tuesday, 9 February and will take three days to complete.

  “The road will be closed at Munnik from the southern side (Polokwane) and at Mooketsi on the northern side. Only light vehicles and residents of Ga-Sekgopo will be allowed to pass on the road.” He added that trucks and heavy motor vehicles will not be allowed and drivers are advised to opt for the alternative R36 Morebeng/Soekmekaar road when travelling between Polokwane and Mooketsi.

The schedule for the closures is as follows:

10 February (Wednesday) 07:30 – 16:30

11 February (Thursday) 07:30 – 16:30
