Fifth witness set to testify in Themane murder trial

The case is set to resume tomorrow.

POLOKWANE – The murder trial of Thorisho Themane continued in the High Court on Wednesday and Thursday.

On day three, witness number four explained that he together with the other accused were involved in the incident on 23 February 2019, explained the Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.

Today, on day four the state handed over a video of the assault as evidence. 

The trial will resume on Friday and witness number five will take the stand.

The murder trial of Flora Park resident, Thorisho Themane, continued in the Polokwane High Court today.

Two more state witnesses; a 20 and 21-year-old man testified. The case is set to resume tomorrow.

The murder trial of Flora Park resident, Thorisho Themane, is set to continue in the Polokwane High Court tomorrow.

Themane was killed in on 23 February 2019, allegedly by learners from a local school. Today, the first state witness; a 16-year-old boy, was called to the stand.

According to the Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, he told the court how he was involved in the beating of Themane.

“He implicated all other accused. Lawyers are expected to start with cross examination tomorrow when the case resumes,” she added.

The murder of Themane caused outrage with members of the community demanding justice be served, showing their discontent through night vigils, marches and protests across the city.
