[VIDEO] ‘Water getting to city slowly but surely’- muni

The Polokwane Municipality says reservoir levels would take long to recover as Lepelle Northern Water experienced various challenges at both its water schemes; Ebenezer and Olifantspoort.

According to Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala, LNW informed the municipality last night that they were not pumping water from the Ebenezer line to Polokwane, due to electrical challenges.

This problem has, however, been resolved and at 16:24, Selala was informed that they started the plant. Lepelle also indicated that water will take long before getting to Polokwane they will be filling the line first.

In another report issued this morning, LNW informed the municipality that the Olifantspoort line was pumping at low capacity due to muddy raw water from the Mohlaletse River.

“Pump stations 2 and 3 have also experienced stoppages this morning. These challenges, from both Ebenezer and Olifantspoort, are affecting water supply to all areas of supply within the Polokwane Municipality,” he explained.

Selala said that at 17:35, the readings at Olifantspoort still showed that they are pumping at low capacity.

He urged residents to report challenges to the Water Helpline at 015 023 5376 / 5629.
