Muni blames lack of water on ‘continuous power dips’

The reservoir levels have been severely impacted and residents are urged to use water sparingly.

“Continuous power dips, load shedding and muddy water at the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort plants have negatively impacted the water supply to Polokwane and surrounding areas.”

According to Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municpality, Thipa Selala both plants are currently operating at low capacity. “This has resulted in low reservoirs levels within the Polokwane municipal area,” Selala explains.

Most reservoirs are sitting at 0% while others are below 5% and the municipality is urging residents who have water supply to use this precious commodity sparingly. Selala adds that water tankers have been deployed to the affected to provide temporary relief.
