‘On pointe’ in Paris are Melisa Gilfillan dancers

The Melisa Gilfillan Dance Academy took the audience on a trip through the streets of Paris during their Ballet À Paris performance on 28 November at the Gallaria. Gilfillan says participating in a production offers many learning opportunities.
“Performing increases confidence, discipline, independence, learning to dance in groups and everything that goes on behind the scenes. Most importantly, dancers will experience the thrill of dancing in front of an audience.”
Gilfillan has been dancing since she was three years old and trained under Joy Cooper during high school. After high school, she was part of the Zia Dance Company and completed her associate to become a dance teacher in the Cecchetti method. This method trains classical ballet. It is designed on the laws of anatomy and stresses two essential ingredients, technical and artistic development in a dancer and a sensitive musical response to all movements.
“Dancing is my life and I am blessed to work with children and see how they grow and mature into beautiful dancers,” she said.
This year the Fun Dance Company acrobats joined in the fun, entertaining guests with their moves.
