Charity begins at home and this became apparent again when a Gauteng-based company delivered a consignment of 180 food parcels to the value of approximately R60 000 to the CDM food bank on Friday.
CEO of Mixcorp, Mixo Kobe handed the parcels to CDM Mayor, John Mpe and said that it was an honour to be part of the success of CDM’s food bank.
He added that a donation of another 130 food parcels to the value of R40 000 was made to Sekhukhune District Municipality earlier this month.
Mpe thanked the donor and said that CDM’s food bank has gone a long way to provide food to destitute households since the early days of the lockdown when many providers to families in the rural areas had lost their jobs and people were waiting for the processing of social and other relief grants.
“We worked 24 hours a day and provided food parcels to 51 000 households,” Mpe said, adding that the recovery of the economy will take time. “With the help of companies like Mixcorp, we will succeed.”
