BREAKING NEWS – Command Council raises concern over ignorance, traders without permits

After a meeting in Polokwane yesterday (Wednesday), the Provincial Command Council has raised concern about disregard for and sheer ignorance of basic rules as the country continues to battle the Coronavirus pandemic.
The council, led by Premier Stan Mathabatha, indicated during a press briefing in the afternoon that they were also concerned about traders who continue to open their outlets without necessary permits. Mathabatha reiterated that they have thus far interacted with the Police and the army to do their work without fear or favour.
He was quoted to have said “For the comfort of our people we are happy to announce that water tankers have been extended to all the five districts of the province. Although not enough, because we require about 1 238 tanks across the province, in supply we only have 625 allocated so far. We still urge residents that together we can defeat and contain the virus.”
The Police and the Army are only there to assist with compliance, but the responsibility for people’s health lies directly with them, he explained.
Mathabatha reminded residents that they should not travel for any reason other than medical or basic needs like food as they could face one month in jail or a fine or both.
