The University of Limpopo (UL) suspended all academic activities following alleged acts of disruption of academic activities that erupted at the institution on Monday.
According to UL Registrar Kwena Masha the Executive Committee of Senate (ECS) in consultation with the University Executive Management Committee noted the unfortunate and illegitimate acts of disruptions of academic activities on Monday.
“The situation has evolved into insidious acts of intimidation where the security and safety of the rest of the University Community members is compromised. This is in violation of sections 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 of the Students Code of Conduct.”
“Consequently, the ECS has taken a decision to suspend all academic activities for Monday. An appeal is made that all of us remain calm as improved security measures are being addressed,” Masha said.
According to sources the disruptions were caused by a group of students who did not get National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Masha said they have engaged the students and NSFAS office on the matter.
“We have resolved the matter on Tuesday and all academic activities resumed on that day.”
