Mokgadi Mokgokong, Jurisprudence Lecturer at University of Limpopo (UL) has been elected as the Society of Law Teachers of Southern Africa’s (SLTSA) honorary Secretary during its national conference held in Mpumalanga in January.
Mokgokong was admitted to the South African High Court as an Attorney in 2015 and soon after joined UL in 2016 as lecturer.
Her appointment to SLTSA comes barely a year after joining the society as a member.
Mokgokong was quoted to have said: “It is still surreal that I have been trusted with such a responsibility of leading this big organisation. My task would be to ensure that the organisation grows its membership across all 26 universities in South Africa and other member universities in the SADC region. I am looking forward to working towards completing all the projects for this year, including publishing all the papers which were presented during the conference into a law journal.”
In his congratulatory message, Mashele Rapatsa, Director of the School of Law at UL said the election of Mokgokong was an indicator that the school remains a crucial role-player in the delivery of legal education in Higher Education and across all sectors of society. “I wish to reckon that it is a call for duty and I am sure that she will execute it with distinction. We are confident that as the Secretary of SLTSA, she will proudly serve as a linkage between all the faculties of law in the country and the SADC region,” Rapatsa said.
