In their quest to defend their Telkom Knockout title, Baroka Football Club intends to eliminate Super Sport United during their last 16 match of the cup scheduled for Saturday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
The Ga-Mphahlele based outfit made history last season when they became the first professional soccer club from the province to win the
R4 million cup and club captain Mduduzi Mdantsane said they would do anything to protect and defend the esteemed title. “The cup has changed our lives. It was the first trophy for the club and for me as a player. We won it for the community and the people of Limpopo.”
The former Kaizer Chiefs Football Club development player said they were aware of the threat posed by Super Sport United but stressed that they would give their all in the match.
Super Sport United were recently crowned 2019/20 MTN 8 champions after beating Highlands Park on penalties at Orlando Stadium two weeks ago.
“We are excited about the Super Sport match. They are strong and their spirits high following their MTN 8 victory. We cannot afford to be eliminated in the first round of the tournament. We want to go to the second round and eventually proceed to the finals but we have to win against Super Sport. We can do it, we just have to play our game and defend the title,” Mdantsane concluded.
