It was back to a suspected hideout of Baiden Scheepers – one of Polokwane’s most wanted suspects who was arrested during an afternoon of action in the central business district a fortnight ago – on Monday morning when the Police reportedly traced shoe prints on a burglary scene opposite the road that led to his last physical address. The address remained on the radar of law enforcers when they made it their first stop as part of a larger crime combating operation targeting hotspots across the city early on Tuesday.
It was learnt that the burglary of the weekend had resulted in two computers, two microwaves and a fridge being stolen from the business.
That morning the forces arrested four suspects, one in possession of housebreaking equipment at 10A Church Street and three more on the corner of Church and Marshall streets which was previously identified as another Baiden den.

A member of the law enforcement team is hoisted into the ceiling of the dwelling at 10A Church Street to check for any possible suspects.

Monday’s search saw a contingent of crime combatants going through the rooms of the house at 10A Church Street before the run-down residence on the corner of Church and Marshall streets got searched. A double storey under construction on the same block simultaneously came under the spotlight, but save for debris and dirt it proved empty.
Baiden, who was arrested five months after brother Aiden with whom he is believed to be sharing a birth date, appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The case against Baiden and co-accused Lourellee Huang was postponed to tomorrow (Friday) for a bail application. During Friday’s appearance Baiden approached the court with the request to be served light meals in custody for “something happened to his jaws” and he was experiencing difficulty consuming food. Huang asked why she had to be remanded in custody as she had not done anything wrong.
Magistrate Janine Ungerer indicated that Baiden’s file had to be redone for all the cases against him to be set out in it.
Meanwhile Aiden will remain in custody on charges of assault and theft allegedly committed in March and August this year and is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court again on 15 October.
