Vintage outfits, lavish vehicles and motorbikes characterised the 2019 Capricorn High School (Cappies) matric dance guided by the theme ‘The Great Gatsby’ at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World last Wednesday.
The arrival of the 91 Grade 12 learners reminded of Hollywood celebrities as they walked down the red carpet and entered the breathtakingly decorated conference hall for the formal programme of the night of glitz and glamour. Parents, guardians and fellow learners could not contain their excitement when the stars of the evening arrived at the venue in style. Neo Moloisi and Kurhula Maswanganyi were named Prom Queen and King respectively.
Although professional photographers were present to capture the moment, supporters on the side-lines also produced their cell phones and digital cameras with hopes of acquiring best pictures and footage.
As per Cappies matric dance culture, the Grade 11s formed a guard of honour and cheered at the well-dressed prom queens and kings. Educators also revealed their sense of style as they rocked up in classy dresses and suits. Transport and Community Safety MEC Dickson Masemola attended the celebration in his personal capacity.
Event organiser Jeanett Senetla commended all the participants for a fun filled evening as she indicated that the gathering was awesome and incident free. She further highlighted that this was one of Cappies’ best matric dances ever. Senetla concluded by thanking the stars of the evening, parents and educators for making the matric dance a great success.
