Church On The Hill (COTH) Polokwane held a special service in celebration of its seventh anniversary and ministry in the city on Sunday. The occasion coincided with founder and President of COTH International, Apostle Mxolisi (MVG) Lephoko’s birthday.
The branch is one of COTH International’s over 16 branches in South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and Zimbabwe, with headquarters in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.
COTH International declared 2019 as ‘Year of Another Level’, which addresses the levels of achievements, breakthroughs and blessings. It was therefore befitting that, besides preaching the word of God on the day, there was also celebration of recent graduates in the church.
Senior Pastor at COTH Polokwane, Vusi Mashabane when delivering a birthday message on behalf of all branch congregants to Lephoko said: “Happiest birthday to our Apostle, our Father, the Founder and President of COTH International. Wishing you many more days paved with gold, grace and greatness. Here is to Another Level.”
Gospel artist, Rofhiwa Manyaga and the COTH Polokwane worship team were on hand to minister in song, while Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club added some adrenaline to the ambiance of merriment.
The event was also attended by clergy from various churches, members of other COTH branches, other churches, business and government leaders from around the city and province, with messages of support coming from near and far.
Mashabane said: “As a city church, we pride ourselves with being alert to socio-economic challenges faced by our members and the surrounding communities. We are here to brighten lives. Thanks to the Apostles for entrusting us with the ministry in Polokwane and for taking the time out to celebrate with us today.”
Some of the acts of brightening people’s lives over the years include building a three-bedroom, fully furnished house for a family attached to the church in New Stands, Sebayeng.
The church continues to financially support two students studying Civil Engineering at the Waterberg Technical, Vocational, Education and Training College.
In its seven years in Polokwane, the branch has sought accommodation in various places in the city until by the grace of God managed to purchase the 8 ha land they are currently located on four years ago.
The church is eternally grateful to the late Limpopo Deputy Speaker and Parliamentarian, Mme Koti Nyama, from whom the land was purchased, thus the main church building is dedicated to her memory.
Apostle Lephoko delivered the word of God, under the title, “Breaking the power of sabotage” while wishing COTH Polokwane Senior Pastors and members well in the future. “You have done well in growing the work of the Lord and are blessed with the grace of raising leaders.”
Apostle Ofentse Lephoko oversaw a candlelight ceremony with Children of Honour and Destiny aged seven years, as a symbol of launching COTH Polokwane to another level.
