Baroka Football Club striker, Jemondre Dickens has been included in the provisional 27 man squad of the South Africa u.23 national soccer team that is to prepare for the upcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) first round and Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifier against Angola.
The first leg against Angola will take place in Luanda on 22 March, with the return leg scheduled for Milpark Stadium in Gauteng on 26 March.
Dickens joined Baroka in July last year from Riverside Rangers Football Club in Cape Town and he has been in superb form since the beginning of the season. He helped Baroka to win their maiden Telkom Knockout trophy in December.
The 20-year old was quoted to have said he is excited about the call-up and he would make use of the opportunity.
The national u.23 soccer team is one of few on the continent that was given a bye in the preliminary round and the outcome of their matches against Angola will determine who plays Zimbabwe or Mozambique in the second round.
The winner of the second round will qualify for the CAF 8-Nations tournament scheduled for Egypt in November this year in which the three top teams from that tournament automatically earn a berth at the Olympics in 2020.
