Road races in Polokwane clusters build up to final event

Polokwane Municipality is hosting a series of build-up races in its six rural clusters to create awareness of the municipality’s annual Mayoral Road Race that is scheduled for 1 May.
The last three events will take place in the Molepo/Maja/Chuene (9 March), Aganang (16 March) and Sebayeng/Dikgale (30 March) clusters during this month. The venues for the coming events are Tshebela High School, Aganang municipal offices and Bana Bathari Special School, respectively.
The first races, in the Mankweng, Moletjie and Seshego clusters, already took place and all the coming races will start at 07:00 and distances of 5 and 10 km can be entered for. Entry is free and registrations are done between 06:00 and 07:00 on the days of the races.
According to Communications and Marketing Manager of the municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo, the aim of the cluster races is to build community spirit and promote participation in sport, a healthy lifestyle and smart living.
The final marathon on 1 May will be hosted in the city cluster and will cover distances of 5, 10, 21,1 and 42,2 km and will start at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium at 06:00, with prior registration at the venue from 05:00. Further details will be published later.
