The 2017/18 draft annual report of Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) reflects that the municipality has succeeded in meeting with its mission to provide quality services in a cost effective and efficient manner through competent people, partnerships, information and knowledge management, creating sustainability of economic development in the interest of stakeholders.
The municipality invited members of the public to be updated about the report at a public participation session that was hosted at Bolivia Estate on Friday.
Speaker of Council, Nakedi Lekganyane said the purpose of the annual report ws to provide a record of the activities of the municipality during the 2017/18 financial year, to provide a report on performance against the budget, to promote accountability to local communities for decisions made and also to account to the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC).

Lekganyane further explained that the annual report makes a contribution by forging linkages with the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan (SDBIP), budget reforms, in-year reports, annual financial statements and performance management information of the municipality. It provides information on probity, including anti-corruption strategies, disclosure of financial interests by officials and councillors, disclosure of grants received from external parties and disclosure of loans and grants by municipalities.
In chapter 1 of the report, the Municipal Manager provided brief comments on improvements made to service delivery and mechanisms or initiatives initiated during the year to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of municipal activities. The Municipal Manager also made specific references with regard to the alignment of services with IDP indicators and council priorities, financial sustainability as represented by the financial health ratios, the efforts that the municipality has made to conserve power and water and provided details of administrative policies made.
