Athletes perform under the stars

The Stanford Lake College (SLC) athletics team consisting of 90 athletes participated in the recent Ben Vorster Night Race. The athletes participated against much bigger schools and achieved some outstanding results.
Star of the team Lia Revelas won five races on the day and Devon Coad equalled the SLC u.15 high jump record. On the track the u.18 girls and boys 3 000 m records were improved by Lara Dando and Casper Venter. Emma Melville set a new record in the 1 500 m for girls u.18.
On the field, Reuben Middleton, u.16, set a new u.16 javelin record and Anja Maree improved the u.16 girls’ discus record.
SLC marketer Beth Coetzee reports that it was a competitive meeting offering challenges that were thoroughly enjoyed by the athletes.
