Athletes can be seen early mornings and late afternoons practicing for the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) 4-in-1 Marathon that is scheduled to take place at the Polokwane Rugby Fields on Saturday from 06:00.
The event, one of CDM’s flagship sport projects, offers a
5 km fun run, 10 km race, 21,1 km half marathon and a
42,2 km marathon for the serious runners. It is a qualifier for both the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons and carries cash prizes totalling R150 000, sport wear vouchers, and T-shirts for the first 1 000 entries.
At the launch of the event in January, CDM Executive Mayor John Mpe said that with registrations extended until the day of the marathon, more than 3 000 international and national athletes are expected to participate.
“These include acclaimed runners and former winners from elsewhere on the continent,” he stated.
Entries are still accepted and participants can register online by visiting www.bouttime.co.za and athletes who are unable to register online can visit CDM’s offices at 41 Biccard Street on weekdays from 09:00 until 15:00, Polokwane Athletic Club at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday from 17:00 until 19:00 or register on Saturday at Polokwane Rugby Fields from 04:30 until 05:45.
