Police arrested two suspects last night (Friday) in connection with the alleged killing of the Deputy Director of the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Marks Rambau whose body was reportedly dumped and set alight along the Webster Street extension in the early hours of last Tuesday.
The news broke around the time of his funeral being held this morning.
Provincial Police Communications Head, Motlafela Mojapelo indicated that a 24-year-old woman from Seshego was arrested at a hotel in the city while the second suspect, a 27-year-old Nigerian, was apprehended at his rental house in Flora Park.
Rambau’s two vehicles, a Jeep Wrangler and a Volkswagen Polo, were also recovered at two different locations in the city.
It is alleged that Rambau was killed in Flora Park and his body moved elsewhere, according to Mojapelo. He added that the suspects then reportedly drove to the deceased’s house at Penina Park where they took his Jeep Wrangler and a television set.
Both suspects are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in due course facing charges of murder, carjacking, housebreaking, theft and defeating the ends of justice.
