Top performers at PEPPS College were rewarded during the school’s 2018 Academic Prize Giving ceremony last Thursday.
When addressing parents and top achievers, Head of College Nelia de Beer said they were proud of all the learners who did well, especially the Grade 12s for producing a 100% pass rate. It is of utmost importance to get the best results to be able to further studies at institutions of higher learning, she commented. De Beer further emphasised that learners’ goal should be to make a difference in the community and reiterated that this was one of PEPPS’s objectives because they believe in making a difference.
“Do small things best to be entrusted with bigger things and embrace the responsibility. You have to do something bigger than yourself to become a better person. Learners who received awards worked hard throughout the year because they knew that their responsibility was to study. I salute all of you,” De Beer reminded.
PEPPS College Grade 12 top learner, Fatima Ally, who attained seven distinctions, used the opportunity to motivate the class of 2019. She started her short speech by thanking the educators, her family and everyone who encouraged her to stay on the right track.
“Your efforts, support and love is much appreciated and PEPPS will also be my home because it taught me a lot of things. To the class of 2019, there is no formula for success rather than hard work, commitment and dedication. You have to be willing to work hard without being pushed,” Fatima stated.
