Black Leopards midfielder, Phathutshedzo Nange won the Premier Soccer League (PSL) goal of the month award for September on Monday.
Nange, a longstanding member of the club, scored a scorcher against Baroka Football Club at Thohoyandou Stadium in September to give his team a 1-0 victory.
The goal, which came after an aerial scramble in the 18-yard area towards the end of the match, is now a contender for the Goal of the Season award.
Nange’s goal was selected from a shortlist of ten brilliant contenders scored in September/October from fan votes, who picked their favourite on the PSL website. Other contenders included Orlando Pirates’ Vincent Pule for his excellent finish against Baroka Football Club, Jabulani Maluleke’s stunningly executed free kick when Polokwane City shocked Bidvest Wits and Ayanda Patosi, in his side Cape Town City’s draw at Orlando Pirates.
Nange was quoted to have said the award will motivate him to score more goals for his team. “This is my first PSL award and I am looking forward to score more goals.”
