Seventy-four local golfers put their skills to the test during Polokwane Golf Club’s club challenge played in individual stableford format on Saturday.
The men competed in a normal competition while the women engaged in a ladies medal challenge that was won by Luanie van Rooyen with 78 points on a count in, claiming a silver medal. She was followed by Beverley Weijters with 78 points on a count out also winning a silver medal while Cynthia Viljoen and Mash Makena received bronze medals for finishing third and fourth with 69 and 71 points respectively.
In the men’s challenge, Anton Dreyer Snr took the lead with 41 points followed by Richard Schulenburg with 40 points while Jakes Jacobs settled for the third spot after accumulating 39 points. Schulenburg won a jackpot lucky draw which was paying 2 632 units.
On Friday, sixty golfers battled it out on the fairway in a golf challenge that was won by Andries du Plessis and Willen Nieman with 49 points. The duo was followed by Quinton Prinsloo and Jaco de Villiers in second position with 49 points on a count out while Riaan Strydom and Manie Lambrechts occupied the third place with 48 points.
Du Plessis received another prize for playing nearest to pin eight while De Villiers and Johan Geldenhuys played the longest drives at number five and 13 respectively.
