People from all walks of life including schools, businesses and charity organisatons joined hands in Polokwane on Friday in celebration of Casual Day.
Some opted to buy a Casual Day sticker for R10 and simply dress casually, others decided to also purchase the official Casual Day shirts and caps and wear them while some went as far as doing good works at various charity organisations on the day.
While this year’s theme was “Be an everyday hero” some institutions added their own spin to the theme with fun spring hats and fancy dress.
Casual Day mascot, Able, was very excited to visit Mediclinic Limpopo where personnel members gave him and Margaret Malatji from the Association of Persons with Disability (APD) Limpopo a huge welcome.
Both Malatji and Saartjie du Toit from Polokwane Nasorgsentrum thanked everyone who purchased tickets, caps and t-shirts for their support and pronounced Casual Day another enormous success in terms of fundraising.
Casual Day is South Africa’s leading fundraising and awareness campaign for persons with disabilities and is the flagship project of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities.
The beneficiaries will be South African National Council for the Blind, South African Federation for Mental Health, Deaf Federation of South Africa, Autism South Africa, Down Syndrome South Africa, National Association for Persons with Cerebral Palsy, South African National Deaf Association, National Institute for the Deaf, Alzheimer’s South Africa, QuadPara Association of South Africa, South African Disability Alliance and National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities, who will ensure distribution throughout the country.
