Amateur soccer teams that will finish in the top four spots at the annual Solly Malatsi (SM) Legacy Foundation’s football tournament will walk away with full soccer kits that were recently donated by Hollywoodbets, a licensed betting operator.
Six soccer kits were donated and the two remaining kits will be given to two women’s football teams that will curtain raise for the final match. Wayde Dorkin, national soccer brand manager of the benefactor company, stated that this was their first sponsorship of the contest and that they were proud to be associated with the foundation. He indicated that each of their 85 branches countrywide selects a football club to sponsor based on the good work done by the team or an individual running the team.
Tournament organiser Solly Malatsi said they were proud to welcome the company as headline sponsor. He added that the kits will allow the teams to wear quality football outfits that will certainly add to their confidence.
“As foundation we are excited that a national brand has chosen to sponsor our tournament as it shows that we are growing in stature. This is the beginning of a long term relationship to provide a platform for youngsters in rural areas to compete in premier football competitions and be scouted by professional teams,” he explained.
Malatsi further indicated that they were going to host 16 teams which will compete for cash prizes, soccer kits, medals and the championship trophy. In order to promote women’s soccer they intend inviting two top performing women’s soccer teams from the province to play in the curtain raiser and stand a chance to win medals, kits and a trophy.
