Boston City Campus strengthens relations with schools

Boston City Campus & Business College met with 50 educators from various schools from the province in Polokwane on Friday at their annual Teacher’s Forum that aims to strengthen relations with educators and learners.
Boston handed over bursaries worth R10 000 to each of the schools to be used at the school’s discretion to help learners who want to further their studies at Boston City Campus & Business College.
The event also gave educators an opportunity to talk about perceived gaps in tertiary education offerings and other education related matters.
The management gave out vouchers from local businesses such as House of Asante Spa during the lucky draw.
Newly appointed Branch Manager for Polo­kwane Boston City Campus and Business College, Sewela Shikweni gave a short overview of the institution while also sharing some of its successes with the educators. “This was also an opportunity for us to share information about the courses that we offer and our study methodology with our guests so that they can go back and brief their learners.”
The campus offers courses that cover a broad spectrum of fields. They are registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institution and is accredited by the Financial Management Institute of South Africa and the Institute of the Certified Bookkeepers. Boston is also accredited by several Skills Education Training Authorities and is a member of the Microsoft IT Academy Programme.
The flexibility of their study methods helps prevent dropouts and makes it possible for students who are also employed full-time to access tertiary studies.
The college which is also recognised by CompTIA (USA) as a top training and certification partner, was previously voted the Best Computer Training College in The Star Newspaper’s ‘Your Choice’ awards and ‘Coolest College’ by Sunday Times Generation Next Survey. Last year it was bestowed an Outstanding Leader Africa award from CompTIA for exemplary partnership. Top Customer Service Delivery Partner award and a special award for Public Sector Project.
Shikweni said students are welcome to use Boston’s facilities if they don’t have access to the internet at home or work places. “We have Interactive Technology-based training Methodology that allows self-paced learning. Students have an opportunity to write two qualifying formative assessments before sitting for a summative assessment. Fees are fully inclusive of study guides, textbooks and all tuition,” Shikweni explained.
