Pietersburg Comprehensive School’s (PCS) drum majorettes squad are the pride and joy of their head coach, Modikwa Mohlake after attaining silver and bronze medals at the recent South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (Samca) championships held in Oudtshoorn.
The flag and prop group won a bronze medal and the drill team won silver. Mohlake said they would have loved to win gold medals at the event but it was no to be.
“That was our target. However, we are happy with the silver and bronze medals. The team gave their all and it was an exciting learning experience, especially for those learners who made their debut at the event,” Mohlake said.
Squad leader, Matseleng Rakgoale agreed that a gold medal would have been a fitting farewell to her beloved sporting code. “I am in Grade 7, and this is my last year of primary school. I wanted to end it with a gold medal. We have showed our competitive acumen and my wish is to see the team winning more titles in the future.”
