Repairs to the main water line from the Krugersburg reservoirs were completed by 02:30 this morning (Monday) and water supply to affected areas should be reinstated during the course of the day as pressure is restored.
“Water has been opened into the lines and it is expected that the low catchment areas will be the first to be restored followed by the high catchment areas later as the levels in the lines rise. The pressure on the line is being closely monitored,” Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo, said in a media release earlier this morning.
The Krugersburg main water line was allegedly damaged by a contractor last Friday evening and water supply was interrupted for the third time during the last week due to further leaks on other sections of the line. Water tankers were deployed and residents were also allowed to collect water from the Dalmada water works.
Mothapo offered the municipality’s apologies for any inconvenience caused.
